Fraction of his money that he had left
= 1 - ⁵₈ 
= ³₈

Let the cost of 1 chikoo be 1 C.
Let the cost of 1 pomegranate be 1 P.

3 C = 2 P _(x3)
9 C = 6 P

Since Mr Chua wants to buy pomegranates with the money he had left, 9 chikoos will be substituted as 6 pomegranates.

⁵₈ of his money
= 9 C + 7 P
= 6 P + 7 P
= 13 P

⁵₈ of his money → 13 P
¹₈ of his money → ¹³₅ P
³₈ of his money → 3 x ¹³₅ P = 7⁴₅ P

Maximum number of pomegranates he could buy with the money that he had left = 7
