Let the cost of 1 apple be 1 A.
Let the cost of 1 persimmon be 1 P.

5 A = 2 P _(x2)
10 A = 4 P

Since Mr Chong wants to buy persimmons with the money he had left, 10 apples will be substituted as 4 persimmons.

⁵₇ of his money
= 10 A + 10 P
= 4 P + 10 P
= 14 P

⁵₇ of his money → 14 P
¹₇ of his money → ¹⁴₅ P
²₇ of his money → 2 x ¹⁴₅ P = 5³₅ P

Maximum number of persimmons he could buy with the money that he had left = 5
