PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 2108 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 273 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of FG.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 51 ÷ 3
= 17 m
Length of FG
= (273 - 51 - 51 - 44 - 44) ÷ 2
= 83 ÷ 2
= 41.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest rectangle
= 44 x 17
= 748 m
2
Area of the medium rectangle
= 41.5 x 17
= 705.5 m
2 Area of the smallest rectangle
= 2108 - 748 - 705.5
= 654.5 m
2 Length of the smallest rectangle
= 654.5 ÷ 17
= 38.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 273 - (2 x 38.5)
= 273 - 77
= 196 m
Answer(s): (a) 41.5 m
2; (b) 196 m
