PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 2641 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 305 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of MN.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 57 ÷ 3
= 19 m
Length of MN
= (305 - 57 - 57 - 49 - 49) ÷ 2
= 93 ÷ 2
= 46.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest rectangle
= 49 x 19
= 931 m
2
Area of the medium rectangle
= 46.5 x 19
= 883.5 m
2 Area of the smallest rectangle
= 2641 - 931 - 883.5
= 826.5 m
2 Length of the smallest rectangle
= 826.5 ÷ 19
= 43.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 305 - (2 x 43.5)
= 305 - 87
= 218 m
Answer(s): (a) 46.5 m
2; (b) 218 m
