PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 2679 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 313 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of NP.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 57 ÷ 3
= 19 m
Length of NP
= (313 - 57 - 57 - 51 - 51) ÷ 2
= 97 ÷ 2
= 48.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest portion
= 51 x 19
= 969 m
2
Area of the middle portion
= 48.5 x 19
= 921.5 m
2 Area of the smallest portion
= 2679 - 969 - 921.5
= 788.5 m
2 Length of the smallest portion
= 788.5 ÷ 19
= 41.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 313 - (2 x 41.5)
= 313 - 83
= 230 m
Answer(s): (a) 48.5 m
2; (b) 230 m
