PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 2032 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 273 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of NP.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 48 ÷ 3
= 16 m
Length of NP
= (273 - 48 - 48 - 45 - 45) ÷ 2
= 87 ÷ 2
= 43.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest rectangle
= 45 x 16
= 720 m
2
Area of the medium rectangle
= 43.5 x 16
= 696 m
2 Area of the smallest rectangle
= 2032 - 720 - 696
= 616 m
2 Length of the smallest rectangle
= 616 ÷ 16
= 38.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 273 - (2 x 38.5)
= 273 - 77
= 196 m
Answer(s): (a) 43.5 m
2; (b) 196 m
