PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 1196 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 207 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of FG.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 39 ÷ 3
= 13 m
Length of FG
= (207 - 39 - 39 - 33 - 33) ÷ 2
= 63 ÷ 2
= 31.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest rectangle
= 33 x 13
= 429 m
2
Area of the medium rectangle
= 31.5 x 13
= 409.5 m
2 Area of the smallest rectangle
= 1196 - 429 - 409.5
= 357.5 m
2 Length of the smallest rectangle
= 357.5 ÷ 13
= 27.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 207 - (2 x 27.5)
= 207 - 55
= 152 m
Answer(s): (a) 31.5 m
2; (b) 152 m
