PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 2888 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 327 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of KL.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 57 ÷ 3
= 19 m
Length of KL
= (327 - 57 - 57 - 54 - 54) ÷ 2
= 105 ÷ 2
= 52.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest rectangle
= 54 x 19
= 1026 m
2
Area of the medium rectangle
= 52.5 x 19
= 997.5 m
2 Area of the smallest rectangle
= 2888 - 1026 - 997.5
= 864.5 m
2 Length of the smallest rectangle
= 864.5 ÷ 19
= 45.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 327 - (2 x 45.5)
= 327 - 91
= 236 m
Answer(s): (a) 52.5 m
2; (b) 236 m
