PSLE A plot of land which had an area of 2502 m
2 was divided into three portions of equal width. These portions were fenced using 305 m of fence as shown.
- Find the length of AB.
- Find the perimeter of the plot of land.
(a)
Length of the width of each portion
= 54 ÷ 3
= 18 m
Length of AB
= (305 - 54 - 54 - 51 - 51) ÷ 2
= 95 ÷ 2
= 47.5 m
(b)
Area of the biggest rectangle
= 51 x 18
= 918 m
2
Area of the medium rectangle
= 47.5 x 18
= 855 m
2 Area of the smallest rectangle
= 2502 - 918 - 855
= 729 m
2 Length of the smallest rectangle
= 729 ÷ 18
= 40.5 m
Perimeter of the plot of land
= 305 - (2 x 40.5)
= 305 - 81
= 224 m
Answer(s): (a) 47.5 m
2; (b) 224 m
