The number of chocolate cupcakes he ate was twice the number of blueberry cupcakes he ate. The number of chocolate cupcakes left was 22 more than the number of matcha cupcakes left. How many matcha cupcakes were there at first?

= 1 p + 1 p + 22 + 1 p + 22 + 12
= 1 p + 1 p + 1 p + 22 + 22 + 12
= 3 p + 56

3 p + 56 = 74
3 p = 74 - 56
3 p = 18

1 p = 18 ÷ 3 = 6
