The number of tarts that Tommy and Perry each had in the end is the same. Make the number of tarts that Tommy and Perry each had in the end the same. LCM of 3 and 1 is 3.
Number of tarts that Tommy had less than Perry at first
= 15 u - 5 u
= 10 u
10 u = 90
1 u = 90 ÷ 10 = 9
Number of tarts that Tommy had at first
= 5 u
= 5 x 9
= 45
