There was 7.1 ℓ of water in a tank and 1.5 ℓ of water in a pail. Will then poured in an equal volume of water into each container. Now, the volume of water in the tank is 3 times in the pail. How much water did Will pour into each container?

3 u |
1 u |
2 u |
Difference in the volume of water between the tank and the pail
= 7.1 - 1.5
= 5.6 ℓ
Since Will poured in an equal volume of water into each container, the difference in the volume of water at first and in the end remains the same.
2 u = 5.6
1 u = 5.6 ÷ 2 = 2.8
Volume of water that Will poured into each container
= 1 u - 1.5
= 2.8 - 1.5
= 1.3 ℓ
Answer(s): 1.3 ℓ
