The number of women in a cinema was
1315 that of the men. There were 60 more men than women. After some women left the cinema, the number of men in the cinema was five times the number of the remaining women. How many women left the cinema?

Women |
Men |
Before |
13 u |
15 u |
Change |
- ? |
|
After |
1x3 = 3 u |
5x3 = 15 u |
The number of men remain unchanged. Make the number of men the same. LCM of 15 and 5 is 15.
Number of more men than women
= 15 u - 13 u
= 2 u
2 u = 60
1 u = 60 ÷ 2 = 30
Number of women who left the cinema
= 13 u - 3 u
= 10 u
= 10 x 30
= 300
Answer(s): 300
