1. Find the percentage of pencils in Box M.
2. What fraction of stationery in Box N is pencils?
3. The number of pencils in Box M is 150. Find the number of pencils in Box N.

Percentage of highlighters in Box M = 25%

Percentage of pencils in Box M
= 100% - 45% - 25%
= 30%

(b)
Percentage of pencils in Box N
= 100% - 50% - 20%
= 30%

Fraction of stationery in Box N that is pencils
= ³₁₀

(c)
30% of stationery in Box M = 150
1% of stationery in Box M = 150 ÷ 30 = 5 
100% of the stationery in Box M = 100 x 5 = 500

Number of stationery in Box N
= 500 ÷ 5
= 100

100% of stationery in Box N = 100
1% of stationery in Box M = 100 ÷ 100 = 1
30% of stationery in Box M = 30 x 1 = 30  

Number of pencils in Box N = 30
