1. Find the percentage of pens in Box U.
2. What fraction of stationery in Box V is pens?
3. The number of pens in Box U is 160. Find the number of pens in Box V.

Percentage of pens in Box U
= 100% - 35% - 25%
= 40%

Percentage of pens in Box V
= 100% - 40% - 30%
= 30%

Fraction of stationery in Box V that is pens

40% of stationery in Box U = 160
1% of stationery in Box U = 160 ÷ 40 = 4 
100% of the stationery in Box U = 100 x 4 = 400

Number of stationery in Box V
= 400 ÷ 2
= 200

100% of stationery in Box V = 200
1% of stationery in Box U = 200 ÷ 100 = 2
30% of stationery in Box U = 30 x 2 = 60  

Number of pens in Box V = 60
