Jeremy had a collection of foolscaps, correction tapes and markers. He had 92 foolscaps. 30% of his collection was correction tapes. He had 24 fewer correction tapes than markers.

2. Jeremy gave away some correction tapes. His total collection decreased by 20%. What percentage of his collection was correction tapes after that?

Number of correction tapes = 3 u
Number of markers = 3 u + 24
Number of foolscaps = 92
Total number of items = 10 u

10 u = 3 u + 3 u + 24 + 92
10 u - 6 u = 116
4 u = 116

1 u = 116 ÷ 4 = 29

Number of correction tapes
= 3 u
= 3 x 29
= 87

Total number of items at first
= 10 u
= 10 x 29
= 290

Total collection in the end in percent
= 100% - 20%
= 80%

Number of items after giving away some correction tapes
= 80% x 290
= ⁸⁰₁₀₀ x 290
= 232

Number of markers and foolscaps
= 10 u - 3 u
= 7 u
= 7 x 29
= 203

Number of correction tapes left
= 232 - 203
