Jeremy threw a ring around the top of a bottle 30 times. One point was scored when the ring fit on the bottle and one point was deducted when the ring bounced off the bottle.

For Jeremy's first 24 throws, the ring fit on the bottle 18 times.

1. What was Jeremy's score from the first 24 throws?
2. At the end of 30 throws, Jeremy's scored 15 points. How many successful throws did he make for his last 6 throws?

= 24 - 18
= 6

Number of points scored = 18

Jeremy's score
= 18 - 6
= 12

(b)
Jeremy's score for the last 6 throws
= 15 - 12
= 3

If Jeremy made 6 successful throws, the score he earned = 6

If Jeremy made 5 successful throws, the score he earned
= 5 - 1
= 4

If Jeremy made 4 successful throws, the score he earned
= 4 - 1
= 3

Since Jeremy's score for the last 6 throws was 3, he made 4 successful throws.
