Number of pupils who take part in sports
= 9 u + 7 u
= 16 u

16 u = 288

1 u = 288 ÷ 16 = 18

Number of pupils who do not take part in sports
= 3 u + 3 u
= 6 u

Number of less pupils who do not take part in sports than those who take part in sports
= 16 u - 6 u 
= 10 u
= 10 x 18
= 180
