Xandra bought some lollipops and gave half of it to Zeph. Zeph bought some jelly beans and gave half of it to Xandra. Xandra ate 2 jelly beans and Zeph ate 18 lollipops. The ratio of Xandra's jelly beans to lollipops became 1 : 4 and the ratio of Zeph's jelly beans to lollipops became 1 : 2. How many lollipops did Xandra buy?

After Xandra gave half of the lollipops to Zeph and Zeph gave half of his jelly beans to Xandra, Zeph and Xandra had same number of jelly beans and lollipops before each ate some.

4 u = 2 p + 18 
4 u - 18 = 2 p --- (1)

1 u + 2 = 1 p --- (2)

Make p the same.
