Winnie bought some sweets and gave half of it to Daniel. Daniel bought some candy canes and gave half of it to Winnie. Winnie ate 5 candy canes and Daniel ate 5 sweets. The ratio of Winnie's candy canes to sweets became 1 : 5 and the ratio of Daniel's candy canes to sweets became 1 : 2. How many sweets did Winnie buy?

After Winnie gave half of the sweets to Daniel and Daniel gave half of his candy canes to Winnie, Daniel and Winnie had same number of candy canes and sweets before each ate some.

5 u = 2 p + 5

1 u + 5 = 1 p --- (2)

Make p the same.
