Fanny bought some lollipops and gave half of it to Ahmad. Ahmad bought some sweets and gave half of it to Fanny. Fanny ate 2 sweets and Ahmad ate 26 lollipops. The ratio of Fanny's sweets to lollipops became 1 : 5 and the ratio of Ahmad's sweets to lollipops became 1 : 3. How many lollipops did Fanny buy?

After Fanny gave half of the lollipops to Ahmad and Ahmad gave half of his sweets to Fanny, Ahmad and Fanny had same number of sweets and lollipops before each ate some.

5 u = 3 p + 26 
5 u - 26 = 3 p --- (1)

1 u + 2 = 1 p --- (2)

Make p the same.

5 u - 26 = 3 u + 6 
5 u - 3 u = 6 + 26
2 u = 32

1 u = 32 ÷ 2 = 16
