Sabrina bought some jelly beans and gave half of it to Will. Will bought some lollipops and gave half of it to Sabrina. Sabrina ate 3 lollipops and Will ate 6 jelly beans. The ratio of Sabrina's lollipops to jelly beans became 1 : 5 and the ratio of Will's lollipops to jelly beans became 1 : 2. How many lollipops did Will buy?

After Sabrina gave half of the jelly beans to Will and Will gave half of his lollipops to Sabrina, Will and Sabrina had same number of lollipops and jelly beans before each ate some.

5 u = 2 p + 6 
5 u - 6 = 2 p --- (1)

1 u + 3 = 1 p --- (2)

Make p the same.

5 u - 6 = 2 u + 6 
5 u - 2 u = 6 + 6
3 u = 12

1 u = 12 ÷ 3 = 4

= 1 u + 3
= 4 + 3

= 2 p
= 2 x 7
= 14
